THERAPY for OCD in SCHERTZ, TX
Therapy support for anxiety, stress, and major life transitions
Get out of the cycle of intrusive thoughts, doubt, and compulsions.
Maybe a thought pops into your head and you know you should be able to move on — but you can't.
Instead, you replay it. Analyze it. Google it. Ask someone what they think. Check again. Or try to convince yourself that everything is okay.
You might get relief for a little while, but then another doubt creeps in and you're right back where you started.
Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:
“What if this thought actually means something about me?”
Replaying conversations or situations over and over in your head
Checking, researching, or asking others for reassurance
Trying to feel 100% certain before making a decision
Avoiding situations that trigger uncomfortable thoughts or feelings
Trying to “fix,” cancel out, or get rid of intrusive thoughts
Feeling like you can't trust your own judgment
You may even realize that some of these behaviors aren't helping — but stopping them can feel almost impossible.
OCD therapy can help.
OCD doesn't always look like excessive cleaning or organizing. It can also show up as intrusive thoughts, constant doubt, mental reviewing, reassurance seeking, checking, avoidance, or feeling like you need certainty before you can move forward.
In therapy, we'll work on understanding the cycle that's keeping you stuck and changing how you respond when obsessive thoughts and doubt show up.
Rather than spending more energy trying to prove a thought wrong or make yourself feel completely certain, you can learn skills that help you tolerate uncertainty, reduce compulsive behaviors, and get back to living your life.
I use evidence-based approaches for OCD, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and other cognitive-behavioral strategies, based on your symptoms, goals, and needs.
